The teachers have voted to ratify a special magistrate's contract recommendations.

The teachers will receive a step-up on the pay scale, and a retroactive pay hike, back to the beginning of the school year. The cost of the proposal is almost 1-point-1 million dollars.

The dispute arose after School Board Members gave non-instructional personnel a raise, using some of the extra money Governor Rick Scott wanted to give to teachers.

The two sides had until the beginning of June to come to an agreement, or the district would have lost the money.

School Board negotiators and school board members are expected to approve the deal tonight.
