Walton County traffic stop leads to meth bust

DeFuniak Springs - The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and DeFuniak Springs Police Department teamed up to bust three people on methamphetamine drug charges.

46-year-old Lee Edward Owens, 28-year-old Crystal Leigh Brady, and 23-year-old Daniel Arnell Thompson of DeFuniak Springs were picked up following a traffic stop initiated by the DFSP.

Owens, Brady and Thompson were charged by the DFSP with possession of listed chemicals, a second-degree felony. Thompson was also charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, a third-degree felony; resisting an officer without violence, a first-degree misdemeanor; and driving while license suspended or revoked, a first-degree misdemeanor.

The WCSO executed a search warrant at a residence located at 23 West Violet Lane and located hazardous chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Owens, Brady and Thompson were booked into the Walton County Jail.

The investigation is considered active and ongoing and additional charges are pending.
