Wear Purple Tuesday to Support Military Children

BAY COUNTY - April is "Month of the Military Child" and Naval Support Activity Panama City is asking the local community to help celebrate.

Military children deal with obstacles and struggles that most children don't have to face.

For instance Navy officials say there are about 2,500 local military children that move an average of every 3 years.

Organizers say this month recognizes those children, as well as 1.2 million others worldwide, who make sacrifices, just like their parents.

"They serve too. The sacrifices they make are almost constant. They are often our unseen heroes behind our military forces in the country and for the freedoms that we enjoy here in our country," said Lynda Brown, NSA School Liaison Officer.

Tuesday is "Purple Up" Day.

Organizers want locals to wear purple to honor Bay County's military kids.
