Woman Found Floating in Pool at a Laguna Beach Motel

Bay County sheriff's deputies are still investigating what appears to be a drowning on the west end of the beaches.

It happened about 3:00 Monday afternoon at the Catalina Court Motel on Front Beach Road.

Witnesses say they saw 51 year old Katherine Bottoms floating on a raft in the motel's swimming pool before they left the area.

When they returned, they say she was floating in the bottom of the pool. Paramedics tried to revive her, but it was too late.

Neighbors say the woman lived at the motel, and had a history of seizures. Investigators are trying to find out if that played a role in her death.

Her body has been turned over to the Medical Examiner for autopsy.
