A 17-year-old male is behind bars facing arson and burglary charges.

The Marianna Police Department was called to the Refuge Tabernacle Church of God on Chipola Street Friday after someone reported a suspicious white male exiting the building.

They noticed smoke coming from inside the building and found three separate piles of items on fire inside the church.

They were able to extinguish the fire quickly and only minimal damage was done to the church.

With the help of a witness, officers arrested the 17-year-old who is now in the juvenile detention facility in bay county.

Details about the teens motives have not been released.

17 Years old is quite old enough nowadays to be charged as an adult. When you can drive, have a credit card, get pregnant, be emancipated from parents, get an abortion on demand, and get a job...you are an adult. The juvenile thing is about not being old enough to know right from wrong. 17 Years old is old enough to know right from wrong.
