A Bay County Sheriff's Deputy was in the right place at the right time early this morning.
Deputy Perry was patrolling Sims Avenue around 2 a.m. when he saw a man on top of a woman on the side of the road. The man was allegedly choking the woman with a pipe and putting dirt in her mouth.
The deputy arrested Gregory Johnson who lives on Sims Avenue. The victim said she and Johnson live together and got into a fight earlier in the evening.
She told deputies she left the house and Johnson chased her, caught up to her and began hitting, kicking and choking her with a pipe. According to the victim, Johnson told her "I'm gonna kill you" as he hit her.
Investigators found blood throughout the couple's house. Johnson told them it was his blood because he cut his hand breaking a window to get inside when the victim locked him out.
The victim was treated at the scene and released. Johnson is charged with aggravated domestic battery.
