Wewahitchka-- It's been almost two years since fire completely destroyed the main home of the Taunton family children's compound in Wewahitchka.

But Saturday, the road to recovery was shortened, when several people got together to lend a helping hand.

For more than thirty years, the Taunton's have welcomed hundreds of foster children into the home.

The Methodist Men of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church put on a volleyball tournament, cookout, and gospel sing to raise money for the rebuilding effort.

The fundraiser kicked off early Saturday morning with a bike and run race followed by a beach volleyball slam tournament.

Folks were also given the opportunity to see the progress of the new home. Proceeds from Saturday's events will help fund the next phase of the children's home-- the gymnasium, which they hope to complete this year.
