Hundreds of runners from all over the country laced up their tennis shoes and hit the streets of Panama City Beach Saturday for the second annual “Run for Redfish”.
Running down Front Beach Road and through Pier Park, 700 people from 23 different states participated in the combined half marathon or 5k runs. And the younger ones got involved by participating in the kid fun run, a lap around Pier Park.
Organizers say they planned the event in hopes of bringing awareness to protect our unique waterways and coastlines which are the natural habitat of the redfish.
The proceeds will be donated to the Everglades Foundation.
"It's a great way to kick off December and the holiday season and do some Christmas shopping at Pier Park and get out there and exercise and have a lot of fun," said run director, Paul Wohlford.
Margaritaville played host to the Run for Redfish after party and awards ceremony.
