Saturday, the Patriot Guard paid their respects to a fallen Marianna soldier as his body returned home.

The body of 21-year-old Demetrius Rivers arrived at the Dothan Regional Airport Saturday morning.

Rivers was killed during an assignment in Afghanistan last week. His mother, Barbara Rivers, says the Army told her it was a weapon malfunction.

Rivers had met and married his wife in Germany and didn't have any kids but his mom says he wanted to start a family.

A memorial service will be held at Marianna high school next Saturday at 11a.m. The public is welcomed to attend.
