An altercation at the Holiday Inn Saturday night lead to the death of a man visiting the beach from Tampa, after police say he either jumped or fell from the 7th floor.

Panama City Beach Police were called to the Holiday Inn on Front Beach Road around 9:30p.m. to deal with a battery call.

Police made contact with a group of adults who had been drinking at the hotel bar together shortly before.

Duane Brust, 52, told police he got into a fight inside a hotel room with an acquaintance, Aaron Thompson, 22, after they left the bar.

Hotel security made contact with Thompson and told him to stay inside the room but Thompson walked away.

Moments later, the security guard heard a loud noise and police say Thompson either jumped or fell from the seventh floor. He landed on the roof top of the second floor.

First responders had to use the fire department's ladder truck to get to him. Thompson was breathing but unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at Bay Medical Center around 2 a.m.

Thompson was vacationing in Panama City Beach with his uncle and friends.

22 years old - so young. :( Sure wish some of these folks would realize that alcohol and balconies do NOT mix well. This happens far too often here at PCB.
