A young Panama City man lost his life early Saturday morning in a motorcycle crash.

Panama City Police say 26-year-old Randall Larcum II was driving his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle westbound over the Hathaway bridge when he lost control.

The crash happened at 12:50 a.m. Saturday morning and investigators were on scene until 7 a.m.

Authorities say Larcum was not wearing a helmet and they believe he was driving at a speed higher than 100 miles per hour when he lost control.

I passed by the scene early that morning. There is a horrible bump all the way across that bridge. I was driving at speed limit and when I hit that bump it sent my F250 in the other lane. I can only image what that would do to a motorcycle.

Riding a motorcycle amounts to the same thing as riding on top off a car. Nothing to protect you and every chance to get thrown off in an impact. So, the least someone could do to protect themselves is to wear a helmet.
