America's malls have “Black Friday”. Internet sellers have “Cyber Monday” and now mom-and-pop shops are laying claim to “Small Business Saturday”.

Saturday was the second annual “Small Business Saturday”.

Employees at two Mexico Beach stores, the C-Bugs World and the Two Gulls at the Beach, say they saw a steady stream of locals and tourists looking for sales on specialty items.

The movement is sponsored by American Express, but local toy stores, specialty shops, and coffee houses are jumping on board, with their own deals.

According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses created 65 percent of new jobs created between 1993 and 2009.
