A Wewahitchka man lost his life in a boating accident this weekend.

62-year-old Ronald Turner went out cat fishing in the Florida River in Liberty County. He was last seen around 2:00 Friday afternoon.

His worried girlfriend called authorities around 6:00 Friday evening when he didn't return.

Liberty County search and rescue found Turner's body just south of where the Florida River feeds into the Apalachicola River.

He was wearing a life jacket but was stuck on a branch. Authorities found the boat a quarter mile away. They believe Turner hit the bank at a high rate of speed.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.

Ronald fondly known as "Tony" or "T-Bone" was a star athlete while attending Wewahitchka High School and had worked with Gulf Coast Electric Corp., for many years probably known as one of the very best employees they had. He was loved dearly by everyone who ever knew him. What an insult you did on your show on Sunday night to the memory of such a wonderful man. Most people did not even know that his name was Ronald. WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE SEND SOMEONE TO WEWAHITCHKA TO LEARN ABOUT THIS GENTLEMAN HE DESERVES MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT YOU GAVE HIM. I ASSURE YOU THAT HE WAS NOT DRINKING OR ON DRUGS. HE SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME WITH CHILDREN TEACHING THEM HOW TO FISH AND HUNT. HIS FUNERAL WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY @ 2:00 P.M. @ GLAD TIDING ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH IN WEWAHITCHKA.
