A 75 year old man was pronounced dead at a South Walton hospital a few minutes after was he was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico surf near Watercolor.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 12:57 p.m. reporting the possible drowning. Deputies arrived at 1:05 p.m. The South Walton Fire District transported Dennis Cross, 75, to the hospital where he was pronounced despite resuscitation efforts.

Yellow beach were flying at the time of the incident.

Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies are continuing their investigation. An autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause of death.
