The Gift of Sight, Part 1

You may be asking for the big screen TVs and digital cameras for your holiday gift, but for some people, the little things we take for granted, like our vision, top this year's gift list.

Nurse Sherry Tucker checked out my vision at the Eye Center of North Florida. She confirmed what I already knew. Without glasses, I've been legally blind since childhood.

Since I couldn't read the chart, Sherry had to resort to another method to check my vision.

After checking my vision, it was time to meet Dr. Fisher and find out if I qualified for custom Lasik surgery.

I had Lasik done to my eyes in July '07 and it cost me $1400 for both eyes where here in Bay Co. it would've been approx. $1800 per eye, why is this? I went to Auburn to the Hollis Lasik Eye Center and it was great. The doctor and his workers were all awesome. I don't understand why your reporter was given a Valium before the surgery but my was painless and I drove from Auburn to Birmingham the next day. I went for my 3 mth checkup and I have 20/15 vision and wouldn't trade it for anything. Why don't you find out why it's so much more expensive here. Auburn really is the place to go for your eyes and is definately more cost effective.
