Having an eating disorder not only dramatically alters your weight; it can also affect your bone development. Researchers studied 10 adolescent girls with mild anorexia, and compared them to ten girls without the disorder.
Each girl underwent high-resolution c-t scans. Researchers found girls with anorexia had already begun to experience negative changes in their bone structure.
Experts say malnourishment can impair bone development, and put anorexic patients at risk for osteoporosis later in life.
