According to the American Diabetes Association, a new case of diabetes is diagnosed every twenty-one seconds, which is why people in our area are fighting back to make sure you're healthy!
Volunteers are hosting an expo this weekend in Panama City and they want you to attend! The event is called: Got Diabetes, “Borderline” Pre-Diabetes? There are non-toxic practical solutions!
Doctors will be in to show you ways to improve the quality of your health and fight the current diabetic epidemic.
One volunteer, Alan Murphy says he is so involved because his 8-year old daughter Caity has type one diabetes and after exhausting traditional medicine, Alan and his family started an alternative lifestyle and his daughter can live with the disease.
The wellness clinic is Saturday, January 24, 2009 starting at 10:00 am at the Bay County Library On 11th Street between Florida Ave. and Balboa.

Peter Goldberg, DA - Peter Goldberg is a board certified, doctor of acupuncture and practitioner of energy medicine. Dr. Goldberg has been in practice since 1989 in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, with a specialty in pain management and stress reduction. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Community Health Administration and one in Acupuncture Physical Medicine. Over the past twenty years, he has lectured extensively on the principles of energy medicine and cellular wellness, with a focus on the integration between Eastern and Western health care. He will be sharing with us his insights into the field of environmental stress and its impact on cellular well-being.
John Jackson, MD - John Jackson is board certified and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Jackson is a native of the state of Missouri and received his B.S. in chemistry from UCLA. After graduate work in Israel he went to work for a bio tech company in Silicon Valley. Later, medical school at George Washington University was followed by an internal medicine residency at UCLA. At the end of 2006 John left 25+ years of private practice with its focus on diagnosis and management of disease. He and his wife, Annette, are now full-time educators in natural healing and prevention. They reside in Santa Cruz, California. Dr. Jackson will be providing insight into how taking ownership of health is imperative to longevity, management of disease, and living a quality life.
Maureen Hayes, MD - Maureen Hayes is a board certified Anesthesiologist and board certified Pain Management Specialist. She is also certified in Acupuncture. Dr. Hayes received her Undergraduate Degree, Bachelor of Science, from Emory University Atlanta, GA; Medical Degree from Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC; Surgical Residency from University of Massachusetts, Worcester, MA; Anesthesiology Residency from University of Massachusetts, Worcester, MA; Fellowship: Chronic Pain Management from UMASS, Worcester, MA. Dr. Hayes has been practicing medicine for 20 years. After residency training, she worked in the Harvard system at both the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Mass. She also served as Chief of Anesthesiology at Marlboro, Hospital in Marlboro, MA for 2 years before moving with her husband, Dr. Joaquin Cortiella, and their son Chris to Galveston, Texas. For the past 7 years she has been an attending physician at the University of Texas Medical Branch where she treated patients as both an anesthesiologist and Pain management specialist while also teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
Dr. Hayes will be sharing why she transitioned to a full time career into Wellness Home solutions with Nikken in August of 2008.
