Jackson Co. Health Dept. Receives Diabetes Mentoring Grant

MARIANNA: The Jackson County Health Department Diabetes Self-Management Education, or DSME, Program received confirmation of a mini-grant award. According to reports, only one application was funded this grant statewide, and Jackson County received it.

The Florida Alliance for Diabetes Prevention and Care (Alliance) and the Florida Department of Health, Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) will be providing funding and mentoring to the local DSME program to achieve recognition and national accreditation from the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).

The Florida Department of Health Diabetes Prevention and Control Program was created in July of 1997. The DPCP’s Mission is to promote the highest standards available for the care, management and treatment of diabetes. Their goal is to reduce the burden and the health-related complications of Floridians with diabetes by improving access to, and quality of, diabetes care.
