Panama City-- Each year, about thirty people in Bay County commit suicide, leaving family and loved ones behind to grief.
The Northwest Florida Suicide Prevention Coalition is trying to bring awareness and hope for those survivors.
They held a candlelight ceremony at the Life Management Center in Panama City as family members gathered outside to remember and bring awareness to this growing problem.
While this is the first annual candlelight vigil in Bay County, the event coincides with the 12th annual National Survivors of Suicide Day. The hope is to try to tell survivors that they are not alone.
Organizers say they are trying to create a "memory quilt" made up of pictures of people who have taken their own lives.
