Metro Atlanta Airport to Reopen After Storms

DALLAS, Ga. (AP) -- Officials say they are reopening a metro Atlanta airport that sustained heavy damage from storms last week that slammed into Paulding County.
Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport director Blake Swafford says the airport was to reopen Friday. Swafford said in a statement that business should be operating as it would on a normal day.
The National Weather Service has said an EF-3 tornado with winds up to 165 mph hit Haralson and Paulding counties, causing damage over a 29-mile path. Some of the most severe damage was at the airport. Swafford says damage there is expected to reach at least $7 million.
The airport, in Dallas, Ga., is about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta.
