Suspect Killed by Jacksonville Police Officer
Posted: 2:48 PM Jun 1, 2012

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a man suspected of firing shots at a Jacksonville apartment complex has been killed by police.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reports that 32-year-old Thomas McMullen was killed Thursday.
Authorities say McMullen was at the Cleveland Arms apartments when he shot at several people he believed had robbed his girlfriend's apartment. Officer T.E. Stafford caught up with McMullen, who reportedly disobeyed commands to surrender. Stafford reported seeing McMullen reach for his waistband, which led to Stafford firing his weapon. McMullen died at the scene.
The Florida Times-Union reports that McMullen previously served 15 years in prison for his involvement in the 1993 fatal robbery of a Jacksonville corrections officer.
