Bristol- A Liberty County man was mauled by three bulldogs while walking around Lake Mystic. "These dogs just came out of no where and surrounded me," Craig Brinkley told us. "If I hadn't have fallen back on my hands, if I'd hit my head first, I would've been knocked out and the dogs would've- I guess just eaten me alive."

Brinkley said he tried to escape the pack by climbing on top of a school bus. But, he was too weak and the dogs continued to attack him. It wasn't until the owner of the bus came outside that the pack ran off.

At the emergency room, doctors discovered Brinkley had been bitten 15 times. He received stitches for one of the wounds, and also suffered a sprained ankle and wrist. Through it all, Brinkley said he was just glad it happened to him and not anyone else.

"This very well could have been a child. A child wouldn't have had a chance going through what I went through. An elderly person wouldn't have had a chance going through what I went through" Brinkley said.

But unfortunately, there appears to be little to prevent this problem from reoccurring. Liberty County is one of the poorest in the state and does not have enough money to pay for animal control services.
The knowledge of this, combined with the terrifying experience, has forced Brinkley to rethink his afternoon walks around the lake. "Everybody says I ought just get a treadmill" he said. The owner of the dogs was located and issued a citation.
