Posted: 1:56 PM Jun 1, 2012

Bicyclist Richard Durden was killed when motorist Sandy Manning struck him from behind.

Both were traveling southbound on 331.

Durden was traveling on the five foot paved apron of Highway 331 as Manning’s Mits Lancer approached from the rear.

According to witnesses, Manning drifted toward the right onto the paved apron and struck Durden from behind. The collision propelled Durden rearward off his bicycle and into the windshield of the Lancer.

After the collision, Durden traveled in a southwesterly direction and came to final rest on the west shoulder.

Manning continued in a southerly direction and came to a controlled stop on the west shoulder.

Charges are pending at this time.
