PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL- The 30th edition of the Gulf Coast Triathlon was a cool overcast affair, but still provided plenty of action for fans.
The 6:15 swim start led the way to a day of action. Swimmers had to endure some choppy waters in the 1.2 mile swim before transitioning to the bike portion of the race.
56 miles later, through front beach and highway 79, it was time to switch it up and run the 13.1 miles run portion of the half ironman competition.
There were no pro athletes in this year's field so all the competitors were in the age group and relay group categories.
On the men's side Bruce Genarri won, and for the women it was Hallie Blunck.
Genarri finished in a time of 4:19:52, while Blunck finished in 4:37:54.
The top local finishers were David Shearon in a time of 4:43:16. And for the women locally it was Haley Nyquist in a time of 5:17:34.
