Muschamp Visits Ft. Walton Beach

Fort Walton Beach, FL--Call it the first official visit to our area by Florida head football coach Will Muschamp.

Coach Muschamp the guest Thursday night of the Emerald Coast Gator Club gathering in Fort Walton Beach.

Muschamp and the Gators coming off spring workouts last month, he's due at Sandestin next week as part of the SEC Spring Meetings. So it's a busy time.

Despite his 7-6 rookie campaign, Muschamp says he knows he made the right call coming to Gainesville, and it's easy he says selling the program to recruits.

"This is a place where you can realistically walk on campus and you can win a national championship on and off the field.' Muschamp told the crowd at the gathering. "You're gonna get a great diploma, you want to live in the state of Florida the rest of your life, how many doors can this open for you. You go out in the Swamp, you make plays and you're on that big screen. And everybody recognizes you, you creat name recognition for yourself. And whether your in the business world, teaching or coaching, whatever it is, you can create some big time opportunities for yourself."

Muschamp owns a home in our area, it's a good bet he and his family will be here through the holiday weekend. Again he has business at Sandestin next week.
