Freeport High School opened at 11 a.m. for the general population and anyone with special needs. Shelter officials ask that you bring things to sleep on like blankets, pillows and chairs.
Also, don't forget any medication and dietary items you might need. Shelter staff will serve three hot meals a day, but you might want to bring some food to snack on.
Officials says pets will not be allowed at the shelter.
