The Rescue Mission in Panama City normally does not allow anyone to stay in the main building except during meals and church services, but Wednesday the doors opened for those wanting to stay dry and safe from the storm.

Some people were already filling the chapel pews watching TV or playing games.

Michael Martin, the project manager at the mission, says they even moved everyone from the Women's Shelter on Transmitter Road to Panama City.

"We open our doors for anybody and everybody at any time. When we run out of beds, we have floor space, so at this point we're making preparations to make sure we have blankets and things like that."

The director says they plan to have at least a couple hundred people come through the doors before the storm is through, but they have plenty of food and water for everyone.
