One of the First Signs of Christmas in Panama City

It’s a sure sign the holidays are not far away; Salvage Santa is kicking off his annual campaign.

Thursday, Dave Liberatore of Emerald Coast Auto Salvage and Fritz Garrett from the Madhatter Muffler Shop on Thomas Drive helped kick off the annual toy drive.

They presented checks of more than $1,000 to Mike Jones, also known as "Salvage Santa."

Elliott Brothers Body Shop also chipped in a big contribution to kick off the fundraising. For more than 20 years Jones has helped gather and restore bicycles and other toys for needy children at Christmas.

Salvage Santa needs the public’s help in putting smiles on little faces on Christmas morning.

Mike “Salvage Santa” Jones is a retired Panama City police officer and just recently completed two four-year terms as an elected member of the Bay County School Board.

If you would like to help to make Christmas brighter, you can call Salvage Santa at 769-4572.
