Third Year for Big Losses at the Indian Summer Festival

It appears the Indian Summer Festival in Panama City Beach lost money again this year.

Festival organizers are blaming the loss on a big and unexpected decline in ticket sales.

Tourism leaders say bad weather that second weekend in October, along with an erroneous perception in the national media that Panama City Beach was severely affected by Hurricane Ivan are the reasons why.

The total loss is thought to be about $115,000, even with a $55,000 rain insurance policy.

Bay County/Panama City Beach Tourist Development Council members say final numbers on the festival will be available in about a month.
