The future of Hamilton's restaurant is in question.
Owner Steve Stephens has withdrawn his application for a zoning change, allowing him to build a high-rise condo on the property at the corner of Thomas and North Lagoon Drives.
A tornado spawned by Hurricane Ivan destroyed the landmark restaurant earlier this year.
Stephens says his insurance won't cover enough of his loses to rebuild, so he'd planned a combination high-rise condo resort with retail shopping and his restaurant.
But last month neighbors protested the high-rise and county commissioners denied the zoning change.
Stephens was planning to appeal the denial, but has now dropped that appeal. No word as to how that will effect his ability to rebuild.
