A Traffic Advisory From the Panama City Beach Police Department

The Panama City Beach Police Department is reminding motorists that the Ironman Florida race will begin at 7:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6.

There will be approximately 2,000 bicycle riders who will be on the roads during the second leg of this race. Bicycle traffic will be extremely heavy on Front Beach Road from Beach Blvd west to Highway 79 and then north on Highway 79.

Motorists are being urged to avoid these areas on Saturday. Beach police will be staffing the major intersections and will move traffic when possible during the bicycle portion of the Ironman race.

Bicycle riders will be given the right-of-way and motorists are reminded to be patient if you get caught up in the delays.

The major intersections where traffic will see the most delays Saturday are:

Front Beach Road @ Beach Blvd

Front Beach Road @ Beckrich Rd. (Edgewater)

Front Beach Road @ Middle Beach Road (Bid-A-Wee)

Front Beach Road @ Highway 79

Back Beach Road@ Highway 79

South Thomas Drive in front of Boardwalk Beach Resort will be closed to all traffic all day Saturday.

Thomas Drive east of Boardwalk Beach Resort will have several thousand runners on it during the third portion of Saturday’s Ironman.
