School vouchers are back in the news. The Florida Supreme Court consolidated three pending appeals and then told the governor he has to have his initial briefs in by the end of the month.

The case involves the state’s controversial opportunity scholarships, which have been declared unconstitutional because they use state money for religious schools.

The governor appealed that ruling to the state’s highest court, but he had been pushing for an extension until February.

Thursday the justices said no, and the scramble is on to file his paperwork by December 30.
