Already locked up in the Bay County Jail for a misdemeanor, Christopher Hackett found his problems getting worse.
Hackett said, “I was at the annex and I began to have sever chest pains and soon as I let one of the guards know, he stopped exactly what he was doing and started to get medical for me and my condition worsened extensively."
The next morning, his pain got worse and he came close to passing out. CCA nurses say Hackett was having a heart attack.
They called an ambulance to take him to Bay Medical.
Once at the hospital, Hackett says he was treated like everyone else
Hackett said, “I'm incarcerated, I'm shackled up and the emergency room personnel did not care about that. It wasn't an issue to them.”
Hackett says doctors found some problems with his heart and lungs and that he will have to move towards a healthier lifestyle. He believes the employees of CCA and Bay Medical have given him a chance to do that.
On Wednesday, Hackett was released from jail.
