13-Year-Old Girl Drowns During Visit To PCB For Church Camp

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the 13-year-old girl who drowned Monday evening in the Gulf.

Jade McAllister, from Morganton, Georgia, was visiting Panama City Beach with a group from her church.

McAllister was reported missing about 5:00 p.m. But the call was changed to a swimmer in distress when people looking for McAllister were told she had been seen swimming behind the Laguna Beach Christian Retreat. They found her unresponsive in the water.

When deputies arrived four minutes later, McAllister had already been pulled onto shore with the help of bystanders and a paddleboard. Deputies took over resuscitation efforts. EMS arrived and transported McAllister to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

McAllister's mother, Polly, thanked her church family for their prayers and support during this difficult time. She says she's just trying to keep going, but is not really sure how to do that.
