According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 60 percent of seniors are not getting enough activity in their day.

Exercise may not be the word to use say local caregivers, and the fear of it could add to depression.

Encouragement helps everyone, and helping seniors incorporate activity back into their daily routine might be just the push they need.

Lee Harrell, the owner of a local “Home Instead Senior Care” that provides in-home caregivers for senior citizens, says this is something family and friends need to encourage together.

"The key thing is just let them do what they can do. Don't try to do too much for them. If they want to wash the dishes, then we'll be there with them when they are, and that's still exercise."

Even a lively conversation or intriguing TV program along with a brisk walk to the mailbox are just a few of the ideas to get one another on the go again.
