The Salvation Army broke ground on a new Domestic Violence Safe House Monday morning.
The house will provide immediate housing assistance to victims in Bay County and surrounding counties.
The program is the only fully certified domestic violence and rape crisis program in Florida's 6 county 14th judicial circuit. The new home will have facilities for 30 to help those in need.
The location of the facility is not being made4 public so as to insure a save shelter for victims
Capt. David Worthy says it will be a haven for those in crisis. “We're very often to capacity or above capacity and the new facility will just open the space up and provided a much more user friendly facility for our victims and our staff.
The 800-thousand dollar project is expected to be completed this fall.
