Gulf Power officials say a car accident knocked out power to hundreds of Panama City Beach residents for 12 hours Saturday. They say a car hit a power pole on Thomas Drive near the Navy base around 1:00 Saturday morning.
The crash downed several power lines leaving more than 1,400 Gulf Power customers without power including the entire Navy base. The company counted the base as just one customer.
Several radio stations were also off the air until late afternoon. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say no one was injured in the early morning crash.
