They may come from different walks of life, but they all gathered this weekend with one goal in mind. They were there to help build a home.
Habitat for Humanity builds homes for families in need of affordable housing. Their goal is to build a home from the ground up in one day.
One home at 1109 Harmon Ave in the downtown Panama City area is the 41st home they've built in Bay County. The future owner of this home, Lucille Reynolds, is more than grateful for the program and the volunteers.
“That's a blessing. It's so exciting to come out here this morning and see all these people out here. It's a blessing from God and I love it because I never owned a house before. This is my first time owning a house and I thank God for it.”
Habitat homeowners pay off a no-interest, no profit mortgage, which goes to building more homes and officials say they are looking for more buildable land.
If you would like to donate land to Habitat for Humanity contact their local offices at 784-9975. The land donation is tax deductible.
