Due to an anticipated increase in traffic over the New Year’s holiday, coupled with fans attending bowl games in Louisiana and Florida, the Florida Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that the I-10 eastbound Escambia Bridge near Pensacola is still restricted to one-lane traffic.
The bridge was damaged earlier this year by Hurricane Ivan, and has since been temporarily repaired.
Although the westbound bridge is open to two lanes of traffic, the east side is limited to one travel lane. To minimize delays motorist are urged to cross the bridge prior the peek period (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) or seek an alternate route.
The Florida Department of Transportation is currently working to replace the structure with a six-lane bridge. Please drive with care over the holiday weekend.
