Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is trying to downplay all the speculation about a possible run for the White House when his brother’s term comes to an end in 2008.
For months the governor has been insisting he has no plans to seek the presidency, but that hasn’t stopped all the speculation in Washington.
Bush told NewsChannel Seven Monday, "To be honest with you there is going to be a period of time about speculation of 2008. I don’t think it does the president any service to have that going on. Talk about lame ducks, this guy is like hitting home runs. He doesn’t need people talking about who’s going to replace him and I don’t want to have any discussion about that.”
Gov. Bush’s name can up again over the weekend when Arizona Sen. John McCain said Jeb Bush’s name would be at the top of the list for Republican presidential contenders.
