Investigators claim the man asked an undercover cop posing as a 14-year-old girl to meet him for sex after a short on-line relationship.
Thirty-year-old John Miller Martin sits in the Bay County Jail after being arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition.
Bay County sheriff's investigators say Martin attempted to arrange a meeting over the Internet with a 14-year-old teen so that they could have sex. The 14-year-old girl Martin was chatting with on-line was actually an undercover cop.
When Martin went to Target to meet the girl, he instead was questioned by sheriff's investigators and finally arrested.
Investigators say it was Martin's idea to meet the girl, and he even described in great detail the sexual activities the two would engage in.
The Sheriff's Office conducted this investigation to find those that prey upon children on the Internet.
Authorities say there are some things you can do to protect your child from internet predators.
First, talk to your child about potential on-line dangers. Also, spend time with your child online and remind them to never give out personal information or agree to meet with anyone they don't know.
Keep your home commuter in a common room, not in your child's bedroom.
Use the parental controls provided by most online service providers to block potential predators.
And always maintain access to your child's online account, checking their e-mail periodically.
Authorities say following these steps could keep your child out of hands of people like John Miller Martin. Investigators took Martin's computers for further investigation.
