Last week at a house in Springfield authorities found four adults, three children and more than 35 animals living under one roof. This weekend they made a second arrest in the case.
Forty-one-year-old Susan Padilla's husband has also been arrested. She and 47-year old John Padilla face several counts of child neglect.
A tip from a neighbor led to Thursday's search of their Springfield home near Rutherford High School.
Police found dozens of animals and three children, one of them covered in animal feces. The children have been placed with the Department of Children and Families. The animals are at the Humane Society.
Police could decide next week whether to charge the couple with animal cruelty. They have been released from jail and are required back in court in March.
