On the issue of sea turtles the Tourist Development Council is still waiting to hear back from the Fish and Wildlife Commission on the status of the sea turtle lighting ordinance proposal.

"There is still some discussion back and forth between the Fish and Wildlife Service, the Corp of Engineers and our representatives about whether the ordinance that's passed meets the standards set out by the Fish and Wildlife Service," said Dan Rowe, TDC director.

The TDC expects the response to come fairly quickly since changes to Panama City Beach lighting will have to be made before sea turtle nesting season, which begins in May.
