Burn Victim Comes Home From Hospital

There's good news for a Washington County family who's been dealing with a double-dose of heartache.

Doctors at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center's burn unit have discharged five-year-old Alexis Holley.

"Lexie" and her grandfather Jimmy Williams suffered severe burns when the family's New Hope home caught fire about 9:30 a week ago.

"Lexie's" mother Christon and Williams' girlfriend were also inside. They both escaped unharmed.

Both Lexie and Williams have been in the UAB burn unit since Wednesday, he is in critical condition. She had been listed as fair and stable until her release this week. Her burns were not as severe as her grandfather and her condition has improved enough that doctors are letting her come home.

Williams is still in critical condition and on life support. Some previous health conditions are making his recovery more difficult.

Friends and family have set-up a bank account to help the Holley's pay for the medical expenses and get back on their feet. If you'd like to help, you can make donations for the Holley family at the Regions Bank in Marianna.
