VIsion Airlines Terminates Northwest Florida Service

When Vision Airlines announced last year it was expanding to offer commercial airlines services, its plans involved making Northwest Florida Regional Airport in Valparaiso its hub.

A year later, not only did Northwest Florida Regional become just another destination, Vision is dropping it from its schedule completely.

Vision airlines' flights to-and-from Northwest Florida Regional Airport ended Sunday.

The airline began service in Northwest Florida in December 2010 with direct flights to Miami and Niagara Falls. At its height last spring, Vision was flying to seventeen destinations from Valparaiso.

Airline officials say they're evaluating the late spring and summer schedules, but haven't made any decisions about service to Northwest Florida Regional after this week.

The airline owes the airport almost a quarter of a million dollars in facility fees. Vision has an operating agreement with the airport until September 2013.

Vision / Flying Airline? they better pay their people and legal cases before making plans for airline operation in Florida. Tell Jim and Billy and the rest of the cronies that legal days are not over. The Florida Market will not help them.

Once again, comments from an ill informed reader" Northwest Florida Regional Airport is in Fort Walton, not here. Vision Airlines is a dinky, one horse operation whose primary flight routes are from Grand Bahama Island to Atlanta and the northeast. No, it's unlikely that they can make money serving northwest Florida Beaches..or anywhere else. Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is our airport, and although traffic is down a little, reports tell us that air travel is down jus about everywhere, and we are still flying in a ton more people than we ever have before. Boondoggle is a better description for the Nay Sayers from PC who will not admit they were wrong regardless of the obvious truth.

Southwest purchased Vision... Imo, I don't think it would help.

Vision should consider flying into Panama City Beach. It would probably help lower prices.

The people that run these airlines are not idiots. If they could make money from servicing Northwest Beaches, then they'd do it. Obviously, it's not profitable. I'm telling you - the new airport is a boondoggle.
