Just as the Pope is being remembered all over the world, he's also being celebrated right here in the Panhandle.
At Saint Anne Catholic Church in Marianna, Saturday night was a time for reflection on John Paul II’s life. Many remember the Pope for being an outspoken and fearless leader, while others reflected on how he was able to spread his message throughout the world.
Father Paul White, A Marianna priest, says, "That was one of his hallmarks, that he had no fear and no hesitation to state what he knew was true."
Albert Sauline, a Marianna resident, says, "The Pope was a wonderful man and we will not forget him, but the Catholic Church is larger than any one individual, and while we mourn, we also celebrate his life and what he did for our church and life throughout the world."
