Choctawhatchee River Flooding to Get Worse Before it Gets Better

The storm may have passed, but some folks in Washington County still have their work cut out for them.

Several homes in the Ebro area experienced severe flooding. The water is slowing up to the Choctawhatchee River, and for now some folks have been forced to use alternate modes of transportation. The river is expected to crest later this week at Caryville and then Ebro.

County commissioners are just accessing the damage at this point. They say Tuesday they'll speak with state officials to determine if Washington County will be declared a disaster area.

Meanwhile, Bay County Emergency Management Director Bob Majka says they are keeping and eye on the Pine Log and Steelfield areas where some flooding is expected in a day or two on the Bay County side of the river bed.
