Florida State University is adding its name to the list of organizations hoping to attract Airbus to Bay County.
FSU said it will develop a specific course of study and research programs in aeronautical, mechanical and electrical engineering if Airbus decides to build a factory by the new airport in West Bay.
Airbus wants to build KC-330’s at a new plant. Bay County is one of three sites in Florida being considered.
The new facility would employ more than 1,000 people.
A decision on a new home for Airbus is expected by the end of the year.
Groundbreaking for the newly relocated Panama City Airport is tentatively set for this coming December.
