Howard's Creek Still Dealing With Heavy Rains

Tuesday morning, water flowing over Doc Whitfield Road forced the Gulf County Sheriff's Office to limit access to current residents and emergency personnel.

The Salvation Army has set up an aid station to provide three meals a day and eventually cleanup kits.

Water has spared most of the houses, but not all of them. Many residents spend their time fishing, and they seem to be taking the flooding in stride.

Bobby Knee of the Gulf County Roads Department, says, "They live on the river; they know it’s going to happen ever so often, so they just, it’s just another flood to them."

The county has brought in concrete to shore up parts of Doc Whitfield Road. If it doesn't rain this week, they expect the water to recede by this weekend.
