Gulf Pines Hospital now has new owners clearing the way for the beleaguered facility in Port St. Joe to reopen.
Medical Capital Corporation has reached an agreement with Hugh Steeley to take over the stock and ownership of the St. Joe hospital.
According to former ER Dr. Michael White, Med-Cap now plans to re-equip and re-staff the facility with plans to open it in a couple of weeks.
The state shutdown the facility in early march, calling it a "danger to public health" and Med-Cap will now have to prove that it can be run efficiently.
